The big 3-0!

Earlier this month Josh turned 30. He now feels ancient and his joints hurt more everyday. :) The kids had planned his whole birthday out...what kind of cake, how they were going to surprise him, what paper to wrap the presents in. Then...the plans changed. I came home from playgroup to find Josh mixing the cake batter. Apparently, an exercise had started on base and Josh had to go back to work in two hours and stay until late that night.

So while I finished baking the cake, Josh checked the kids out of school for an impromtu birthday party. As soon as Emma and Aaron got home they started hanging streamers (after all, can you really have a birthday without streamers ?!?) To make up for not being able to make the cake like they wanted, I let them put a sickening amount of sprinkles and chocolate chips on the cake. Though it was a whirlwind party, everyone had tons of fun!

After school we invited all their friends over to finish the cake.
